Campaign Story

My name is Shannon. My husband, Carlos, and I have been married for over 5 years. I’m blessed to have two stepsons that I love very much. However, I do still feel like a part of who I am is incomplete. I have wanted to be a Mom ever since I was a little girl. My aunt had a home daycare, and I loved helping her care for the children. I absolutely adored the babies. I knew from a young age I wanted to work with children in some way. At 17 years old, I got my first job at a child care facility. I grew to love working with children. I became a Lead Infant Teacher for many years. I also taught preschool. After over 25 years in the classroom, I was offered an office manager position for a private school in my area. For the past 3 years, I have worked there and couldn’t ask for a better place to work at. For a very long time, I had horrible pain during my periods. I was losing so much blood at one point that I had to have weekly iron infusions and eventually a blood transfusion. I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis. I’ve pretty much tried to have a baby for what seems like forever. I’ve had 2 miscarriages and lots of surgeries and procedures. At one point, I got extremely discouraged and decided that I was just not meant to be a Mom. Well, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve regretted not trying everything I possibly could. This is why I reached out to Shady Grove Fertility and started the pre-screening process. Luckily, my results look pretty good. However, my insurance isn’t covering anything, and I’m having a hard time coming up with all of the money I’m going to need. I’m just reaching out in hopes that I can get some help achieving the one and only dream I’ve ever had.
